Farmers’ markets are the backbone of Ireland’s local food economy. Most run weekly — Saturday morning is the most common slot — and most operate in the same location year-round. Stall fees are typically the lowest of any category, often €20–€30 per day, because the model depends on the same traders returning every week. Many operate a waiting list rather than an open application, and prefer producers who can commit to a regular pitch. You will usually need public liability insurance, and if you sell prepared food, dairy, meat or fish you will also need to be registered with your local Environmental Health Office.
