Past market
One of Europe’s oldest continuously trading covered food markets, dating back to 1788. Stretches between Grand Parade and Princes Street in Cork city centre, with further entrances off Oliver Plunkett Street and Mutton Lane. Owned by Cork City Council and home to around 130 traders.
What’s on: fresh fish and seafood, butchers, artisan cheeses, olives, spices, organic fruit and veg, traditional Cork specialities (tripe & drisheen, crubeens), speciality food shops, cafes, and vintage/gift stalls. A must-visit for food lovers – Queen Elizabeth II and many other dignitaries have toured it.
Wheelchair accessible via level entrances on Princes Street and Grand Parade. One public (coin-operated) toilet near the Market Alley entrance.
